The Ashrama has a model Dairy Farm with 25 cross breed cows, bull and calves. It is maintained here in order to set an example before the village people of this island as to how to keep the cross breed cows instead of the local breeds. Milk produced is mostly used for Hostel students and other inmates of the Ashrama.
The Ashrama has a model Biogas Plant (20 Cu.M.) with the financial help of MNES and WBREDA who have been kind enough to set up at our Ashrama premises which have been an immense help to save cost of fuels and give us other benefit associated. Mainly we have utilized the gas for cooking. The slurry is used for gardening, cultivation and fishery.
Agriculture & Gardening:
At present the Ashrama has about 45 bighas of agricultural and gardening land area where paddy, vegetables, fruits and flowers are produced. Besides, there are 6 big ponds producing fish.
We have a Guest House in the Ashrama compound of 8 rooms with accommodation of 40. Round about 1500 devotees visit the Ashrama and stay in Guest House every year. We have no fixed charge and depend on small donations to maintain the Guest House.
Sale of Ramakrishna Vivekananda Vedanta Literature:
The Ashrama also maintains a small sales counter where books of Ramakrishna Vivekananda and Vedanta literature and photos are displayed.
Yatri Niwas at Gangasagar:
We have a Yatri Niwas at Gangasagar Sub-Center Road No.4. Every year we have organize a Mela camp for Holy Bath at Gangasagar on Makar Sankranti Day and between 12th and 16th January. In all, the pilgrims (Including a few sadhus from different organizations) from different parts of the Country and abroad are provided with free board and lodging at the Gangasagar Sub center.
