Inter – School Cultural Competition on Swami Vivekananda

As in the previous, this year also we organized at Sagar Island Inter School Cultural Competition on Swami Vivekananda. A large number of students from different schools of the Island took part in Recitation, elocution, songs, essay – writing, drawing, Quiz and story – telling – all related to Swami Vivekananda. The object of this hugely popular cultural competition is to spread the message of Swami Vivekananda with special focus on his ‘man – making and character – building education’, which is the need of the hour.   


         
National Youth Day Celebration (12th January)

Every year we observed the National Youth Day (The Birthday of Swami Vivekananda) on 12th January at the premises of Gangasagar Sub-Centre. Students, youths & devotees were present and participated in the programme through Recitation, Reading from Swamiji’s works, lectures, songs etc. Last several years the District Administration arranged for the Buses for the students and Youths participants in the programme. The Programme started at 9.00 a.m. and ended with a colourful Procession with Tableau at about 1.00 p.m. Students, youths, Monks’, Devotees and local villagers participated in the programme. All the participants were served with Morning Tiffin and Noon prasada by Ashrama.

  

                       
Gangasagr Mela Camp (12th January to 16th January)

On the occasion of Gangasagar Mela (Holy Bath at Gangasagar on Makar Sankranti Day we organized a camp at the mela area at Gangasagar Sub center from 12th to 16th January. All pilgrims (Including a few sadhus from different organizations) from different parts of the Country and abroad were provided with free board and lodging at the Gangasagar Sub center and also Manasadwip Ashrama. Besides, free meals were served to non-resident pilgrims daily. Daily Puja, Evening Aratrika in the Shrine, Discourses and devotional singing were also arranged in the camp daily in the morning and also in the evening.
